Make Istanbul Constantinople Again Tee
Make Istanbul Constantinople Again.
A tribute to Constantinople and the Christian history of one of the most important cities the world has ever known.
The design centers on Hagia Sophia as it stood as the great Christian cathedral of Constantinople, before the minarets and later Ottoman additions. Built under Emperor Justinian I and completed in 537 AD, Hagia Sophia stood for centuries as the architectural and spiritual heart of the Byzantine Christian world.
The back features a colorized depiction of Christian Hagia Sophia surrounded by the phrase “Make Istanbul Constantinople Again,” with DXXXVII marking the year of its completion.
Bold, historical, and intentionally provocative, this piece is made to start conversations about a history too important to forget.
